KETO FUFU/SWALLOW



The Ketogenic Diet has truly come to stay as Africans across the globe now have alternatives to their staple foods popularly called fufu, eba, pounded yam, semo, amala and so forth which are normally made out of high carbohydrate foods like yam, cassava, semovita, plantain and the likes can now be made out of cabbage, cauliflower, eggplant, spinach, broccoli, cucumber and all low carbohydrate veggies along with psyllium husk to create healthier and better low carb options than the high carbohydrate counterparts.



This great innovation has made Keto diet a viable and sustainable way of life for Africans  particularly Nigerians. Most Nigerians will not feel satisfied unless they have eaten fufu/swallow and it’s with great joy that I share this recipe on this blog so that everyone can learn and become part of the Ketogenic movement. Let’s get to it.

Ingredients:  I whole cabbage or cauliflower or 2 Egg Plants or 2 heads of Broccoli  1 tablespoon of psyllium husk flakes.

For perfect binding use Ketogenic World Premium Psyllium Husk Flakes.​



Directions Chop cabbage and add in a blender.  Add water to help you blend chopped cabbage into a smoothie/mash Pour content into a strainer/sieve with miniature holes to drain excess water. Save this water so that you can reuse it to blend remaining chopped cabbage since you cannot blend all your cabbage at once.



After draining excess water from mashed cabbage. You can further drain excess liquid by pouring cabbage mash in a cheese cloth and straining further.  Pour cabbage mash into a cooking pan on the stove and cook on medium heat while stirring. Allow cabbage mash to cook for a while in other to dry out even further. 

Then Add 1 tablespoon of psyllium husk flakes. Psyllium husk rises, and you don't need more than 1 tablespoon. I said tablespoon not teaspoon because there is a difference between the two. 

If you like eating stronger fufu, then you can add additional 1 teaspoon of psyllium husk flakes. However, on cooling, the fufu solidifies even more so you may not need additional psyllium husk flakes. Cook for a few more minutes.


Optionally, to make yellow cabbage swallow, add 1-2 tablespoons of palm oil to the cabbage before adding psyllium husk. 




Remove from heat and roll into desired shape then serve with your favorite soup.  Enjoy and let us know the recipes you want to see on our blog to make the Ketogenic lifestyle easy for you.
